Airport Chaos… no one’s fault but my own.

I am finally on the plane… You know, a lot of people like to tease me about choosing to get to the airport 2 hours early. But, I know myself.. I NEED THE BUFFER. Today was a perfect example. 🤪 I started by circling the airport twice. Mind you, I have been driving here since I was 16 years old… I know how this place works….
The first time was not my fault; some roadblocks prohibited me from taking my usual route, and the second time… I’m still trying to figure that one out.
The third time, being the charm and all… I was able to figure out where Terminal Top Parking was. Circled there a couple of times looking for a spot and followed some more signs that said “availble parking” to another sign that said terminal top parking (those were my clue words lol).
I get turned around driving through airports; it’s a lot of circles, I feel like, especially in Orlando… don’t come for me. I’m not stressed, you don’t need to be either. I found parking. D, as in Dickinson.
Anyways, the terminal top is nice because it drops you right on the terminal floor next to check-ins and security. Usually, parking there is super easy and saves a good amount of walking. Today I was in heels.
I will give myself a little grace, I had just left about 30 kids at a party celebrating a fifth birthday!!! Which was super cute, it was LEGO themed… the cake was fantastic as always. *Thank You, EF. I was a happy girl. I just rode to the airport in silence. 🤐🫣.
Anyways, after parking… I headed toward security. Something felt off about my location, but what did I know? I headed to my usual check-in spot and then looked for TSA PreCheck. I will say, this side was very quiet, no lines. TSA was a breeze; I made it through security in about 5 minutes… Weight off.. those anxiety videos on the Tiktok about getting through security- ugh, I feel those so hard. I hate how thick the air is in line there.
I checked my ticket on my phone to confirm my gate, but I couldn’t find the numbers. They stopped short of 76.
WRONG TERMINAL, CAROLINE! To confirm, cue TSA Agents … they direct me straight across the airport to Terminal A. I probably tripped over my bag 3 times trying to roll it on the carpet there. That should be removed immediately. I am a strong girl. We fight every time.

Terminal Bravo. Delta. Over… This. ISH.
By the time I actually made it over to my gate, it felt like I had just done a second workout. I was sweating, out of breath, and frustrated that I had tripped so many times; it was like my feet were doing it on purpose. This is why I give myself two hours before my flight. I still had time to get some water & a little snacky snack.
Boarding was easy. But let me say, all that “the mini weekender never has an issue” talk? Lies.
Today, she was smooshed halfway under the seat in front of me, and I think the only reason I got away with it was because I was in first class. I’m an organized packer, usually. With plenty of bag space, 2 nights doth not call for more than two bags… I don’t think I agree anymore.
By the time I finally sat down, my bag shoved under the seat in front of me (barely), I could let myself breathe for a second. I actually cat-napped. Well, meditated myself into a trance-like, half-sleep state… my eyes were closed, my body was heavy, but I was still actively listening to “How To Do Nothing”.
Jenny Odell has a way with words. I really enjoyed listening to her read this book. It was easy to get lost for a few minutes… but that also got my mind working. So I got up, & here we are, writing it out. – TURBULENCE,
… I’ve got to come back to this one, it’s 10:45, way past my bedtime, and I just want to enjoy the room and all the sounds of NY right now, it’s a little too late for this creative flow, I’ll be back here again tomorrow.
